A Synthesis for a Modern World

We claim that a more resilient society must combine the West's external architecture of liberty with the East's internal art of self-mastery. This synthesis offers a holistic path toward a better future.

As American Citizens and well-wishers of America, we illuminate the profound alignment between the eternal principles of Dharmic (Indic) philosophy and the foundational ideals of the U.S. Constitution.

Dharma is the primordial field, the ground from which all being, thought, and action flow. Dharma is the universal principle that sustains Existence.

The American Founders grounded their views in a higher authority in the Declaration of Independence:

"The Laws of Nature and of Nature's God"

Our Purpose

We seek to illuminate the profound alignment between two of the world’s great traditions: the Dharmic systems of the East and the founding principles of the American Republic. Although separated by vast amounts of space and time, we contend that both are built upon the same primordial axiom—the Primacy of The Will, and the Universal Natural Law Bound to it. Our goal is to articulate this shared foundation to strengthen our citizens and our nation.

The Foundational Axiom: The Primacy of the Will

Both the American experiment and Dharmic philosophy are masterful in different ways because they are built upon the same ontological foundations.

  1. The Will is Real: Consciousness, or “Free Will,” and the capacity to choose are not fictions but the primary drivers of human action.

  2. Natural Law is Universal Law: All things in nature, including human societies, are imbued with and governed by the same universal, divine law.

These axioms are the source code for a free and prosperous society. They stand in direct opposition to physicalist and deterministic philosophies that deny the will, and reduce human beings to mere products of material forces while leaving those forces unexplained.

The Central Distinction: Self-Mastery vs. The Denial of Agency

We face a choice between self-mastery and mental servitude.

  • Self-mastery is the acceptance, integration, and disciplined exercise of one's own will. This is the path of self-restraint, hard work, and taking responsibility for choices and their consequences. A society of masters is prosperous because it is composed of individuals who evolve toward greater discernment and alignment with others around them.

  • Mental Servitude: In its most pernicious form, slavery is not physical but mental. It is the denial of human agency—the belief that one's actions are merely the result of external mechanical forces, or a foreign hand that is always in control. An individual who is convinced they have no will can never escape their circumstances, even if they have the physical strength to do so, projecting their self-imposed powerlessness onto the world as oppression. This is the ideology of grievance that destroys societies from within by pitting one against the other.

Two Paths, One Truth

Though their trajectories appear to be entirely different, both traditions arrived at the same conclusions about the requirements for a just society.

  • The American Founding: The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the writings of the Founders are the raw materials of American exceptionalism. They codify the belief that Liberty is a divine, pre-existing condition. That government is instituted to defend the individual's innate sense of justice and will to comply with Natural Law. America is masterful because its foundation is a projection of will to establish order in society.

  • Dharmic Thought: The intentionality of all things in nature is central to Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and Sikh thought. Dharma is the name for this universal, natural law. To follow Dharma is to live in alignment with this truth, exercising one's will not to control others, but to master oneself. This is a will to order within.

Our Mission

Our goal is to seek out Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, Buddhists, Taoists, Zen practitioners, seekers, and other curious passersby who accept the primacy of their will and take responsibility for their actions. These are the people capable of change, of growth. They alone can lift others up through service.

We will achieve our goal by:

  1. Presenting the Case: We will explain the deep connections between Dharmic systems of thought and the founding documents of the United States, using primary sources or quotes and our flyers.

  2. Educating and Aligning: We will show visitors how understanding America's founding values can make them better citizens, and how their own Dharmic traditions provide a powerful, parallel path to the same truths.

Building a Coalition: We wish to find future leaders who are ready to build a values-based, not identity-based, political and cultural movement. By melding the exceptional external architecture of American liberty with the internal self-discipline of Dharma, we can build a stronger America.
